March 14, 2008 :: No. 186
Don Valachi, co-director of Cal State Fullerton’s Real Estate and Land Use Institute, has been appointed to a three-year term on the advisory board of the Real Estate Education Endowment Fund.
The Sacramento-based entity provides programmatic financial assistance to California State University campuses that have established, or are in the process of establishing real estate programs. The advisory board consists of three CSU faculty members, three members from the private sector and three from the public sector.
Jaime R. Alvayay, executive director of the CSU Real Estate and Land Use Institute, noted that Valachi is “the ideal person for this position.”
Among his other responsibilities at Cal State Fullerton, Valachi oversees disbursement of scholarships funded by the Real Estate Education Endowment for students interested in careers in real estate. A certified public accountant and former broker, Valachi, also serves as faculty adviser to the student Real Estate Association.
“Don has done a terrific job over the years to ensure that Cal State Fullerton students who are interested in real estate careers have the support they need to continue their education, regardless of their financial circumstances. His appointment to this important statewide advisory board underscores that recognition,” said Michael LaCour-Little, professor of finance and associate director of the Real Estate and Land Use Institute at Cal State Fullerton.
Valachi joined the university’s faculty in 1995 and lives in San Clemente.
