5.4 Earthquake Hits Southern California July 29

Fallen books flood the floors between shelves in the library

Thousands of books in the Pollak Library tumbled to the ground as a result of the 5.4 quake that struck the Southland July 29. In some parts of the library the fallen books piled up to the second and third shelves. Ceiling tiles also fell.

After the earthquake campus buildings were secured and then a building-by-building assessment was made on the safety of the structures. Photo by Kelly Lacefield.
